A transitional vanity represents the middle ground between a traditional vanity and a modern vanity. The elaborate carvings, hardware, and flourishes of traditional vanities are more subdued when it comes to transitional pieces. Yet, they avoid being so subdued that they become boring. This is where the modern style lends transitional vanities excitement through bold color contrasts, modern proportions, and brushed metal hardware.
A stylish timber vanity with visible wood grain (natural oak with chrome tap ware is my pick) adds texture and warmth to white space, topped with a vessel basin reminiscent of a nature retreat. Streamlined shapes are key to this look so opt for simple wall-hung designs for a floating effect that saves space, and recessed handles or touch-close drawers for clean lines. Use baskets or bins inside cupboards and storage trays in drawers to store all items away. If you want to add more impact, touches of black add depth to this look.
Bathrooms may have nooks where open shelving can be used to add functional storage. Bathroom shelves that are open work well in tub, toilet and sink areas where cabinets would be difficult to install or access and handy storage is needed.
